Seventy thousand courts and 35 million players across 150 countries: how Padel became a global sport that entertains and inspires

Thirty-five million players, more than 70,000 courts and a number of national federations affiliated with FIP set to surpass 100 in 2026. Padel, which will take centre stage in Tirana from 26 to 30 May during the FIP Platinum Albania in the iconic Skanderbeg Square, is experiencing extraordinary growth: from 2020 to today, the sport has expanded from just over 50 nations to more than 150 countries where padel is played at every level, from professional competition to amateur participation.

The number of players continues to rise — five million more than in 2024 — alongside the growth of federations affiliated with the International Padel Federation and the increase in infrastructure. According to data from the World Padel Report 2025, the second edition of the document produced by the FIP Research & Data Analysis Department and available free of charge on the FIP website (www.padelfip.com), there are now more than 24,600 clubs worldwide where padel is played, for a total of 77,300 courts.

Europe is leading the growth of the global padel community, hosting more than 61.3% of all players, followed by South America (19%). The continent has surpassed 15,000 clubs and 50,000 padel courts, with extraordinary growth considering that at the beginning of 2020 Europe counted around 5,000 clubs and 18,000 courts. Spain and Italy are the two countries where padel is most widespread in Europe, but Albania is also ready to fall in love with the sport.
