Skanderbeg Square becomes the ‘stadium’ of the FIP Platinum Albania: another historic chapter for padel among the people

The square as a symbol of meeting, social interaction and community. But also as a place to play sport outdoors and build a padel court. Skanderbeg Square, which from 26 to 30 May 2026 will host the first edition of the FIP Platinum Albania, is ready to transform into a playground where some of the best male and female players in the world will entertain the public of Tirana with a global sport experiencing unprecedented growth.

At the heart of the Albanian capital, Skanderbeg Square combines identity, history and modernity: a monumental yet welcoming space designed to bring people together and connect communities.

Padel has already been brought into public squares during other major European events, with outstanding success. In 2023, Krakow’s Main Market Square (Rynek Główny) hosted the competitions of the European Games, where padel was included for the first time as a medal sport. The visual impact was extraordinary, with thousands of fans filling the stands surrounding the 20-by-10-metre court and its four glass walls to enjoy the performances of the national teams. This year, in June, Plaza Mayor will once again host the Premier Padel P2 in Valladolid: another iconic venue that has become part of the history of the sport and that allowed padel to enter the centre of the Spanish city where world number one Arturo Coello was born.

Not only Krakow, Valladolid and now Tirana: padel has also entered other iconic venues such as Rome’s Foro Italico Park, which will once again host the Italy Major Premier Padel in 2026, just days after the FIP Platinum in Tirana. The courts for the 2025 FIP Euro Padel Cup were instead installed inside the Plaza de Toros in La Linea de la Concepcion, Spain.

Four panoramic courts will be installed in Skanderbeg Square, including a spectacular centre court. The stands will accommodate 1,200 spectators with free admission, alongside dedicated technical areas, a warm-up zone, locker rooms and media facilities.

Around the courts, a modern and elegant 400-square-metre hospitality structure will welcome partners, institutions, athletes and guests, offering a premium experience combining sport and culture. The venue will also include a dynamic fan zone, where spectators will have the opportunity to meet top players during autograph sessions, participate in clinics and experience the excitement of padel first-hand.
